I believe your best leadership is on the other side of operational clutter.
About Kyle
The work the work is.
I've spent my career in industries where the work is real — agribusiness, construction, operations. The kind of work where you earn respect with your sleeves rolled up, not from a corner office.
Across roles in sales, leadership, and operations, I kept seeing the same pattern: talented leaders who genuinely cared about their people, buried under everything else. Reports. Admin. Accountability systems that never quite worked. Meetings that should have been a conversation.
The result was predictable. Disengagement. Turnover. Culture drift. Not because the leaders didn't care — but because the operational demands left no room for the human side of leadership.
And here's the other thing I kept noticing: even when leadership development was happening, it was only reaching the top 10%. The managers. The directors. The executives. Meanwhile, the people closest to the customer — the shift leads, the service writers, the frontline supervisors, the technicians — got nothing.
The people shaping culture and reputation every day were the ones being invested in the least. That's backwards. And it's the problem People First exists to solve.
Two kinds of work.
There are two kinds of work in leadership.
The work you have to do — tracking performance, managing compliance, running the numbers, documenting processes. Necessary. But not where leaders change lives.
The work you get to do — coaching someone through a hard moment, recognizing a team that went above and beyond, building the kind of trust that makes people stay. That's where the real return is. That's the work that builds organizations people are proud to be part of.
My job is to help organizations build the systems that protect time for the second kind of work — and then extend that same developmental investment to every person on the team, not just the ones with titles.
Because leadership isn't a position. It's a posture. And every person in your company has one.
Why this. Why now.
When I started People First Consulting, I was driven — and still am — to help businesses and leaders put people first.
That's getting harder, not easier, in the age of AI and automation. But it's also more important than ever. AI is going to keep doing more of the predictable work. The question every leader has to answer now is: what are we going to do with the human capacity that frees up?
My answer is simple. We're going to use it for each other. AI doesn't replace human connection. Used well, it creates more of it.
That's the bet underneath everything I build.
How Compass got built.
I built three Operating Systems — the Leadership OS, the Servant Selling OS, and the REAL Goals OS — to give leaders and their teams a shared framework for the decisions that matter most. Not motivational programs. Not personality models. Practical, repeatable decision-making systems designed to hold up under real pressure.
When I started implementing them with leadership teams in the field, the impact was immediate. I knew I had something.
But there was a problem. Without me in the room to facilitate it, the content was too dense for most teams to use on their own day-to-day. So the question became: how do I scale this in a way that still delivers high-quality value — and puts the OS frameworks in people's hands in real time, in real situations, when they actually need them?
The answer was Compass.
I built it over a long 72-hour weekend. People First OS Compass™ is an AI-powered progressive web app that puts all three Operating Systems in your pocket. Daily prompts. Decision-making guides. AI coaching that asks the right questions instead of giving easy answers. Available to every person in your company — from the shop floor to the C-suite.
It's not a chatbot. It's not a course. It's the system I use with leadership teams in the field, made accessible to every person who needs it.
And it keeps evolving. The most recent updates — Lead Mode for the leaders making the calls, and Daily Mode for the shift leads, technicians, and service writers who do the work — turned the original promise into a literal one. The same People First philosophy, two interfaces, one subscription. Every person from the shop floor to the C-suite, actually developed.
Who I built this for.
If you're a business owner, executive, or sales leader in the trades, blue-collar industries, or operations-heavy organizations — the kind of work I came up in — and you're trying to:
Develop every person on your team, not just the ones with titles
Build a culture that retains your best people in a labor market that makes it hard
Sell in a way you'd be proud to explain to a buyer
Set goals your team actually believes in
Lead under pressure without losing the trust you've spent years building
Then we're probably going to get along.
